frequently asked questions

How long are your THERAPY sessions?

Our therapy  sessions usually run for just under one hour.

How much does it cost to see ONE OF YOUR CLINICIANS?

The cost varies with the type of consultation and the professional background of your therapist.   it is best to discuss fees with us prior to your first session. You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate, which will reduce your personal cost substantially.

How much does it cost to see one of Your gps?

As above, the cost varies with the type and length of consultation and it is best to discuss fees with us prior to your first session.  For example, a 20 minute session with one of our GPs for the purposes of preparing a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) is $190 and you will be eligible for a $103.70 Medicare rebate (leaving out-of-pocket costs of $86.30).  However, note that a longer session will leave you with similar out-of-pocket costs (e.g., 40+ minute session with our GP to prepare an MHTP is $240 and you will be eligible for a $152.80 Medicare rebate leaving out-of-pocket costs of $87.20).

Am I eligible for a medicare rebate?

Our therapy services are supported by Medicare when you have a referral, in the form of a Mental Health Care Plan, from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.  Under this Plan, you can access ten sessions per calendar year.

Our GP Mental Health Consultations are also supported by Medicare.

Are psychological services covered by my private health fund?

We are registered as providers with Private Health funds. Some funds will provide rebates for psychological services. It is advisable to check with your specific fund as to whether your 'extras cover' includes psychological services and the amount of repayment, prior to your first session. Note that you can only use one form of rebate (i.e., either Medicare or Private Health) for each session.

what other ways can i seek funding for sessions?

We provide services under Employee Assistance Programs set up by individual organisations to support the wellbeing of their staff.  This could enable you to access at least 3 initial sessions that are fully covered.  We also provide NDIS, WorkSafe and TAC-funded consultations.  For these third-party payers you pay for your session on the day and then seek reimbursement from the insurer yourself.

Can I see one of your GPs for consultations other than those associated with my Mental Health?

No, our GP service is dedicated to the management of mental health conditions.  With your permission, we can communicate with your Primary GP.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours notice minimum of any cancellation of appointment.  Appropriate notice of a cancellation will not incur a fee. Less than 24 hours notice of a cancellation will incur a fee of 50% of the hourly fee, while 'no-shows' will be charged at the full rate. The invoice must be paid before further bookings can be made.

What therapies do you offer?

We offer a broad range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other mindfulness-based therapies.   We also have staff trained in delivering Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and one who provides relationship and family counselling.

As a service, we  have a particular interest in the use of lifestyle interventions for the promotion of mental health and wellbeing.  This includes nutrition, exercise, stress management, social connectedness, and sleep.
